Riverview Golf Course - Dublin, GA
A note from Rhianna:
As you may know, we have The Army Corp of Engineers here cleaning up the debris from Hurricane Hellene.
We have one side of the course closed due to cleanup. I have been referring to it as the "river side" of the course, any hole on the left side of the road. Closed holes consist of #1, #10-13, and #17 and #18. Currently, we have our golfers starting on #14, playing #14-16, and then #2-9.
So, if you are playing 18 holes, just play that order twice.
This will carry on until we're told otherwise!
I will keep everyone posted next week on weather updates with snow on the forecast!! 😍
OUR STORY
The area where this course is located used to be the site of Georgia's first and only 4H camp for
African American youth. The only building left from that time is the Emery C.
Thomas Auditorium, which is now used for private events and tournaments. Back in
the 1950s, there used to be a cafeteria, swimming pool, eleven cottages, and an
auditorium on the site. The auditorium is listed on the Register of Historic Places.
In 1975, the Dublin-Laurens Development Authority and Chamber of Commerce planned to build
an 18-hole public golf course on the riverside land. The Dublin Chamber of
Commerce donated 67 acres, and the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority
bought 140 acres from the Martin Theater Group of Columbus to develop the
course.Construction of the Riverview Golf Course started on May 21, 1976, under the supervision of Mr. Don
Lamb Sr. and Authority Development Chairman, Mr. Louis Livingston. Mr. Lamb
dedicated over 1700 hours of his time to overseeing the project.
After completion, the Authority transferred ownership to the City of Dublin in exchange for utility services at a West
Dublin Industrial site. The course opened to the public in the spring of 1977.ON THE GREENS
